Top 15 events of Parovoz studio life in 2021

A new year is a time of hope, discoveries and reviewing the past. We decided to look back and recall the most significant events of 2021 from our studio. Despite the pandemic and all the challenges it has brought, we managed to achieve quite a lot. For that we’d like to say a big thank you to the entire Parovoz team and our valued partners, thanks to whom we’ve been able to implement our ideas, and, of course, to our viewers who we work and create new cartoons for. We wish you all a Happy New Year and health, prosperity and well-being. Let your most daring ideas and endeavors come true!
During the year 2021, Parovoz studio produced 1320 minutes of animation! We’ve done a great job and invite you to take a trip through the highlights of the past year:)
1. The premier of «The Everlasting Story».
Perhaps the most significant event of the year for us is the long-awaited premiere of the studio’s first animated feature film «The Everlasting Story» that was in production for about 810 days with more than 500 specialists involved! The film has 1831 shots, and 1203 of them contain effects of varying complexity — from simple to super complex and with simulation. There are 72 characters alone in the animated story of young Koschei.
The distribution of the studio’s first animated feature film successfully began in Russia on October 28, and for the first time since 2015, the Russian animated film topped the box office chart, surpassing two major Hollywood competitors — The Addams Family 2 and Ron’s Gone Wrong! The film also made the top 20 most popular movies and TV series for 2021 on Kinopoisk, ranking #14.
Also, «The Everlasting Story» was included in the long list of the Golden Eagle Award.
2. «Puppies and Kittens» won Tefi Kids award.
Another important milestone in the life of the studio — the animated series «PUPPIES AND KITTENS» won the Russian national television award «TEFI-KIDS»! The ninth episode of the series «The Town Day» won in the category «The best music for children’s broadcast, series or animated film» by composer Ulyana Stratonitskaya. The award ceremony was held at the Et Cetera Theater on October 18.
3. THE PAROVOZ TEAM PRODUCED ANIMATED VIDEOS FOR THE BLAST BRIGADE GAME OF THE INTERNATIONAL BRAND MY.GAMES AND THE ALLODS TEAM ARCADE STUDIO
A new direction for the studio was to work on an animated 2D in-game movie for the adventure action game Blast Brigade vs. the Evil Legion of Dr. Cread. The game, full of spy intrigues of the brave American operative Jeff and the secret agents of the secret services of major world powers in the late eighties, is available on Steam and other platforms.
4. FANTASY PATROL ANNIVERSARY
It’s hard for us to believe, but the animated series «Fantasy Patrol» has turned five years old! Like any child of this age, «The Fantasy Patrol» shows its spirit: it aspires to become «big», growing into a spin-off and a feature film with the characters of the series universe; it uses a lot of its imagination and gains faithful friends. Now viewers can enjoy the third season of the animated series.
5. PREMIERE OF «MUSICAL PATROL. FANTASY SONGS»
Another Fantasy Patrol spin-off, the «Musical Patrol. Fantasy songs» premiered on December 17 on the Moolt app.
6. THE «FABLE» SONG WON AN AWARD
In the fall, the song «Fable» from the animated series «Fantasy Patrol» won the Main Characters −2021 National Children’s Award in nomination «Leading Children’s Song»!
In spring all the best songs from the cartoons produced by Parovoz studio became available on the most popular platforms: iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify and Yandex Music!
7. NEW BOOKS BY MARIA PARFENOVA
Now the young fairies from the town of Fableton live not only in cartoons, but also on the pages of books! This year, Maria Parfenova, the lead author of our studio’s animated series, has released two new books about «Fantasy Patrol»: «Fantasy Patrol. The Lost Tales» and «Fantasy Patrol. Five Kingdoms» — a book-quest with augmented reality technology, where readers have a unique opportunity to overcome obstacles and take part in exciting adventures along with the young fairies from the animated series!
8. BE-BE-BEARS, LEO AND TIG and CUTIE CUBIES are now on HBO MAX
2021 has been a stellar year for several of our other animated series! The HBO Max streaming service has aired «Be-Be-Bears»,” «Leo and Tig» and «Cutie Cubies» in Latin America, the Caribbean and Central America. The series are fully adapted for foreign audiences and have been translated into several languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Young audience in Israel, South Korea and China were also fortunate, where series «Leo and Tig» premiered in 2021, and the second season of the adventures of the little leopard and the tiger cub from the Far East began to be broadcast in Italy, Malta, Monte Carlo, San Marino, Vatican City and Switzerland. In addition, this year the series got its own Italian Youtube channel and Mondadori publishing house released books series for the Italian-speaking fans of the cartoon.
9. PRODUCTION OF THE THIRD SEASON OF THE SERIES «CATHY QUEST»
This year we launched the production of the third season of Cathy and Quest animated series. The journeys of the curious girl Cathy and her faithful friend Ef continue!
10.FIRST IN-STUDIO PITCHING AT THE PAROVOZ STUDIO ANIMATION CLUB
In the fall, Parovoz studio held its first in-house pitching contest! Ten employees of the studio took part in the finals of the competition for animation series and short animated films. Andrei Osadchikh has won the Parovoz competition with his project «Hero». His project was advanced to the script development stage at the studio. The Audience Choice Award went to Dina Monakhova with her project «Earless owl» and to Dmitry Ilyushin with his project «Mila in the World ». The winners and participants were awarded with winner certificates and valuable gifts.
11.THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE FINANCED THREE SHORT FILMS BY PAROVOZ STUDIO
In 2021, Parovoz studio was granted subsidies for three projects: Mother Ship (directed by Evgeny Golovin, 13 min.), The Other Side (directed by Anastasia Chernova 13 min.), and «Sleepy» (directed by Alexey Mironov, 10 min.).
Anton Smetankin, the CEO of the studio: «I would like to note that thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture the new direction of author’s animation is launching at the studio.
12. PAROVOZ STUDIO BOOK CLUB ANNIVERSARY
The year 2021 marks the one-year anniversary of the Parovoz studio Book Club! We have also recently opened a film club, and now we can enjoy watching and discussing movies together!
13. HEROES OF ENVELL SEASON 2 PREMIERES ON DISNEY
In early 2021, the second season of the series about the adventures of gamer friends Art, Kira, Vic and Phil premiered on the Disney channel. Loyal fans of the cartoon still continue to delight us with their fan art. We have repeatedly held streamers with „Heroes of Envell,“ creators and we take this opportunity to reminisce about it».
14. PAROVOZ STUDIO HEROES IN THE MOSCOW SUBWAY TRAIN
And in other news:) In the summer of 2021, the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line of the Moscow Subway ran a special theme train, decorated with the characters of the cartoon series «Be-Be-Bears,» «Fantasy Patrol,» «Leo and Tig» and «Puppies and Kittens». The theme train was dedicated to child safety.
15. STUDIO’S CARTOONS MERCHANDISE RELEASE
The end of December is a perfect time to think about New Year’s gifts and a festive menu:) Thanks to 0+ Media, our merchandise is created with all children’s preferences in mind. In 2021 the characters of Paravoz studio cartoons have become even closer to every child and parent: toy collections based on the cartoons ” Puppies and Kittens«, «Fantasy Patrol» beanbag chairs with Leo and Tig, a new line of curd cheese desserts and delicious pizza under the brand name «Be-be-bears,» as well as a whole variety of other licensed products are waiting for you on the shelves!
