Animated Film Mother Ship Nominated for the Taichung International Animation Festival (TIAF)
20.08.2024
The animated film Mother Ship, produced by the Parovoz Studio with support from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, has been selected for the competition program of the Taichung International Animation Festival, set to take place in Taichung from October 18 to 27, 2024. This year, the festival received 3,000 submissions from 107 countries and regions, and 62 works were shortlisted for the short film competition.

The Taichung International Animation Festival (TIAF) is organized by the Taichung Film Development Foundation (TFDF) with support from the Information Bureau of the Taichung City Government. Established in 2015, TIAF has become a major international animation festival, highly popular among cinephiles and animators in Taiwan and abroad. The short film competition was launched by TFDF in 2017, and this year marks the festival’s 10th edition.
Director Yevgeny Golovin describes the film:
“Mother Ship is a parable, a kind of ‘layered cake’ filled with multiple meanings. The world of the protagonists, Mavrina and Antey, is controlled by the ‘ocean of darkness’—a quintessence of the pain of loss, loneliness, and the dangers inevitably lurking on life’s journey; a metaphorical ‘evil’ that takes away everything most precious.”
